Say no to sleepless nights…

Are you tired of feeling like a zombie, drinking five cups of coffee just to make it through the day? Sleep is critical for you and your baby’s health, and when you’re not getting enough rest, your ability to be present as a mama suffers. If you’re ready to make a change, sleep training is the answer but perhaps these common sleep training myths are stopping you from getting the support you need…

Common Sleep Training Myths

  • Sleep training has gotten a bad rap, because it is often directly associated with the cry it out method. Too many parents I speak with talk about the guilt they feel at the thought of leaving their baby cry for hours.

Good news for you! At The Sleepy Cub, we focus on a gentler methods that allow you to determine how much crying you are comfortable with. In many instances, the crying will be minimal because you will learn to read your child’s sleep signals.

  • Yes, your baby needs to eat but based on various developmental milestones, it is OK to space feedings to provide you and your baby with longer sleep cycles! At The Sleepy Cub, we work with you to distinguish the difference between hunger feeds and comfort feeds.

  • Your baby is always growing and changing! With each developmental milestone there is a possibility to see sleep regressions. Consistency is key in these situations, your child will start sleeping through the night again! If you do need additional support, I offer sleep regression sessions for a discounted price to those who use my 1 on 1 Mama Bear Sleep Support Program.

  • There's no scientific evidence to show that utilizing gentle sleep training methods will have adverse affects on your child. I am happy to provide scholarly articles and scientific studies if you would like to read them.

  • Sleep training does NOT ruin the bond between a parent and their baby. Getting the proper amount of sleep for both you and your baby can strengthen your relationship! When your baby is well-rested, they are happier and more alert, ready to engage with the world around them and with you. And when you, as a parent, are well-rested, you have more energy and patience to devote to your baby and your relationship with them.

  • Sleep training helps your child learn to self-soothe and removes unnecessary sleep props. This means that your child is able to adapt to various situations. I recommend keeping as much consistency in your routine as possible but there are definitely creative ways to facilitate naps on the go. I go into great detail about this in my Sleep Without a Schedule Masterclass.

  • Yes you can and you should! Sleep training helps your child learn to self-soothe and removes unnecessary sleep props. This means that your child is able to adapt to various situations. I recommend keeping as much consistency in your day as possible when traveling, but there are definitely creative ways to create safe sleep environments.
