How I went from exhausted mom to a certified sleep consultant…

hey there!

I’M NEHA - MOM OF TWO & A CERTIFIED SLEEP CONSULTANT

As a mother of two, I’ve lived through the nightmare of sleep deprivation.

My medical background gave me insight into the importance of sleep, but my Indian culture and more traditional family members made me feel like the two worlds were incompatible.

That’s why I created The Sleepy Cub - to help babies and toddlers sleep, so the whole family can get the rest it needs while being sensitive to everyone’s backgrounds and comfort levels with sleep training.

My programs and 1:1 coaching turn your sleepless nights into systems that get results and provide support you can rely on.

Getting your child on a sleep schedule seems simple…but in reality, it’s not.

If it were, we’d ALL be getting a full 8 hours of sleep every night! The challenge is that books and online articles are written for the “general public”…not for the individual needs of YOUR family.

To fast track the process of your child’s sleep schedule, your family needs a plan tailored to YOUR unique child, built around your routines and home environment. And that’s where I come in!

A little more about me and my work…

Houston, Texas is home sweet home, but my services for families-in-need extend across the globe.

I specialize in working with children from 11+ weeks to age 5, drawing on my years of experience and training which include a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Psychology and a Master’s in Medical Sciences.

And as a mom of two kiddos under 5, I know exactly how you’re feeling right now because I have been there. I’ve experienced many times how the long nights can push you to your emotional breaking point, and I’ve seen through teary eyes how a tired baby struggles the next day.

My first go at this as a frustrated mother was when my first born started waking up every hour on the dot at four months. I dealt with it like most of us guilt ridden by society do…

  • Wake up

  • Comfort feed

  • Try to rock him

  • Let him fall asleep on me just so I could rest my eyes

The sleep deprivation was affecting me – mentally, emotionally and physically.

And while the undereye bags were not my favorite…through that experience I learned you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of anyone else. And in my attempt to do just that, I discovered the magic of sleep training. And who can’t use a little more magic in their life?

That’s not to say that I didn’t face a few bumps along the road…

So yes, it did take some time for our family to find the right sleep training routine that worked to help my son sleep through the night…but that’s not the only challenge I had to overcome.

I come from a traditional Indian family where sleep training was considered taboo…but my scientific background told me differently. I knew the dangers of sleep deprivation (for me, my husband, and my baby!) and I thoroughly researched the effects of sleep training before beginning a plan for my own children.

While he may not have been on board to start, my husband is now my biggest supporter! And my mom, who was very much against sleep training, now agrees that making that choice for my family was the right one. I was able to show them how a happy mom and happy baby can make all the difference in the world.

That’s why I’ve put working with diverse families at the heart of what I do. I get your struggles and with my experience and training in diversity and inclusion, I work with parents to create culture-conscious, customized sleep plans that get the entire family sleeping through the night.
